Detailed Description: Bacteriological Sample Collection Procedure Diagrams

Return to document

This is a series of simple line drawings illustrating the steps for collecting a water sample. Each main step is accompanied by a small illustration showing the relevant action. The diagrams are numbered in circles and positioned on the left side of the instruction text.

Diagram 1: A simple line drawing of a cold water faucet or tap, shown from the side. The faucet has a spout and a handle for turning the water on and off. This diagram is enclosed in a circle with the number 1.

Diagram 2: An illustration showing a hand holding a bottle (presumably containing bleach solution) near a faucet, demonstrating the process of disinfecting or flame-sterilizing the tap. The hand is positioned to apply the disinfectant to the faucet. This diagram is enclosed in a circle with the number 2.

Diagram 3: A drawing of a faucet with water running from it in a thin stream, illustrating the flushing process. The water flow is depicted with lines showing the stream of water coming from the tap. This diagram is enclosed in a circle with the number 3.

Diagram 4: An illustration showing a hand holding a sample bottle under running water from a faucet. The bottle is positioned to catch the water stream. The diagram shows the proper technique for filling the bottle without contamination. To the right of this illustration is explanatory text noting "Fill sample bottle until water level is between the two lines on the bottle." Additional small diagrams show a close-up view of hands manipulating the bottle cap. This diagram is enclosed in a circle with the number 4.

Diagram 5: An illustration of a hand holding what appears to be the sample collection form, demonstrating the step of completing the paperwork. This diagram is enclosed in a circle with the number 5.

Frost-Proof Hydrant Diagram: A technical diagram showing a frost-proof yard hydrant in cross-section. The diagram shows the underground portion of the hydrant with its valve mechanism. A large X is marked over this entire diagram, indicating that this type of fixture should NOT be used for sample collection. Below the diagram is text stating "DO NOT USE."

Hot-Cold Mixing Faucet Diagram: A technical diagram showing a mixing faucet with both hot and cold water controls. The diagram illustrates the internal plumbing connections where hot and cold water lines meet. A large X is marked over this entire diagram, indicating that this type of fixture should NOT be used for sample collection. Below the diagram is text stating "DO NOT USE."

All diagrams are simple black line drawings on white background, designed to clearly illustrate each step of the sample collection process or identify fixtures to avoid.
